Using both traditional and digital techniques you will explore contemporary ways of communicating through graphic design and narrative illustration. Guided by your tutors, you will experiment with a wide range of skills and techniques to produce work that demonstrates aspects of both graphical and illustrative theory and studio based processes. You will leave the course with digitally printed examples of your work.

Completion of the course can enable progression on to our Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma courses, awarded by University of the Arts London Awarding Body (if you meet the UAL entry criteria for the course).

PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

This course is taught in English, and students are asked to communicate with each other in English, giving our international students the perfect opportunity to practice their English speaking, listening, writing and reading skills.

COURSE OUTCOMES

You will be able to think more creatively regarding your use of materials, mediums, composition.

You will develop a broad understanding of typeography and illustrative techniques.

You will acquire a basic understanding of digital software to output your final work that is portfolio ready.

Who is it for
The course is aimed at any student aged 14 to 18 years who is interested in Graphic Design and Illustration. completion of the course can enable progression on to our University of the Arts London Awarding Body Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma courses.

English Level
Minimum English standard: International students should have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English

Review brief for the week. Introduction to Illustration. Observational drawing exercise. Introduction to colour and design. Walking excursion to the Fitzwilliam Museum with drawing tasks. Refine ideas and sketch final poster design. Introduction to scanning using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop. Adding effects or texture.
