Renowned musicians join the Royal College of Music Timpani and Percussion Faculty

The Royal College of Music is thrilled to welcome drummer Jas Kayser and timpanist Tomohiro Ando, who will be joining the Timpani and Percussion Faculty as International Visiting Artists from September.
David Hockings, Head of Timpani and Percussion at the Royal College of Music, commented: ‘I am delighted to welcome two such phenomenal musicians to our faculty. They have already made a huge impression on our students in the classes they have delivered, and their international perspective can only help in equipping our students to compete on the world stage.’
Tomohiro Ando was appointed Solo Timpanist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam in 2017, after working as Principal Timpanist of the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra. He previously studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Jas Kayser is a leading figure of her generation of drummers, known for her powerful, genre-shifting work as a bandleader and collaborator. In addition to touring globally with Lenny Kravitz and working with artists such as Jorja Smith and Alfa Mist, Jas is an award‑winning artist whose releases and performances have earned major industry recognition and wide broadcast support.
