Ben Moss caller

Wiggle, stomp and spin together in this playful introduction to traditional Morris dancing from the Cotswold region of England.

These dances, which date back centuries, involve simple stepping sequences and figures, and are danced together in sets of six dancers. Learn about the different types of Morris dancing and where in the country they originate, and look at a couple of dances from different villages in the Cotswolds. Open to all ages and abilities!

Leading the session is Ben Moss, a renowned folk dancer, teacher, and workshop leader. Ben is an award-winning Morris dancer, and has performed with Folk Dance Remixed and Morris Offspring throughout the UK and in the USA and Canada, contributing original choreography for the latter. He has led music and dance workshops for groups of all ages and abilities, both in the UK and the USA, notably for the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and at Pinewoods Camp in Massachusetts, USA. Throughout his career he has revelled in introducing and furthering the enjoyment of folk music, song, and dance for anyone willing to listen.
