Nielsen Symphony no 4 op 29 'Inextinguishable'
Enjoy an invigorating evening as Ryan Bancroft conducts a dazzling programme of contrasting works.
Four Royal College of Music soloists take to the stage for Mozart’s sparkling Sinfonia Concertante for Four Winds, before the ¶¶êŽÒ•îl Symphony Orchestra dives into the dramatic ‘Inextinguishable’ Symphony by Danish composer Carl Nielsen – featuring a thrilling ‘battle’ between two sets of timpani. The symphony conjures up an irrepressible life force: an ‘inextinguishable’ spirit.
The concert opens with the spacious, open-air textures of Tumblebird Contrails by up-and-coming American composer Gabriella Smith.
